App Permissions Explained

Rayen requires certain permissions to provide its full range of features. Understanding these permissions helps you make informed decisions about your privacy and app functionality. All permissions are requested only when needed and can be managed through your device settings at any time.

📷 Camera Access

Why we need it: Camera access allows you to capture photos directly within the app to use as references for your artwork, create photo-based art projects, or participate in photography challenges.

How we use it: When you choose to take a photo using the in-app camera feature, the image is processed locally on your device and only uploaded to our servers if you explicitly choose to save or share it.

Privacy note: We never access your camera without your explicit action. The camera is only activated when you tap the camera button within the app.

🖼️ Photo Library Access

Why we need it: Photo library access enables you to import existing images from your device to use in your artwork, set profile pictures, or share completed projects to your device's photo gallery.

How we use it: You have full control over which photos you share with Rayen. The app only accesses images you specifically select through the photo picker interface. We can also save your completed artwork back to your photo library when you choose the save option.

Privacy note: We do not scan or access your entire photo library. Only images you explicitly select are accessible to the app, and we never upload photos without your permission.

🎤 Microphone Access

Why we need it: Microphone access allows you to record voice comments, audio notes for your artwork, or participate in audio-based community features.

How we use it: Audio recording is only active when you explicitly start a recording session by tapping the microphone button. Recordings are stored locally until you choose to attach them to comments or posts.

Privacy note: We never record audio in the background. The microphone is only active during intentional recording sessions initiated by you, and you can review all recordings before sharing them.

Why we need it: Internet connectivity is essential for syncing your artwork across devices, accessing community features, downloading content updates, and enabling real-time collaboration with other artists.

How we use it: Network access allows the app to communicate with our servers to save your work to the cloud, load artwork from other users, send and receive messages, and keep your app updated with the latest features and security patches.

Data usage note: We recommend using Wi-Fi when uploading or downloading high-resolution artwork to avoid excessive mobile data usage. You can enable a "Wi-Fi only" mode in the app settings to prevent data usage on cellular networks.
